Description

Math Foundations
This course focuses on all basic math calculation and reasoning skills to prepare students for Pre{-}Algebra and beyond.

*Typically for 7th/8th grade students*

Pre – Algebra
2 semesters
Review of foundational math concepts followed by an introduction to integers, one-step equations, inequalities and equations, graphs and functions, percent, and probabilities in preparation for taking Algebra Part 1.
Algebra
2 semesters

Part 1 – Study of expressions, systems of equations, functions, real numbers, inequalities, exponents, polynomials, and radical and rational expressions. (1 Semester)

Part 2 – Study of linear equations, inequalities, graphs, matrices, polynomials and radical expressions, quadratic equations, functions, exponential and logarithmic expressions, sequences and series, probability and trigonometry. (1 Semester)

Geometry
2 semesters

Part 1 – Essentials of Geometry – introducing points, lines, planes, angles parallel lines, triangles, similarity. (1 Semester)

Part 2 – Geometry – trigonometry, quadrilaterals, transformations, circles and area. (1 Semester)

Consumer Math
1 semester (Elective)

Skills for real-world financial literacy, personal finance, and business subjects will be demonstrated, practiced and put to use with many project-based learning opportunities and community field trips (banks, businesses, etc.)

Core Math I
Level I will practice and review foundational math concepts in preparation for taking Pre – Algebra, or for continuing with Core Math courses, while working to meet students at their individual levels.
Core Math II
Level II will practice, maintain, and work to increase basic math skills of students while meeting individual needs. Pre – Algebra concepts, terminology, and more will be explored.
Core Math III
Level III will continue to focus on maintaining basic math skills while having a strong emphasis on the use of basic math with consumer math skills and applications. Project-based learning will lead the way. This course will touch upon aspects of geometry.
